To compromise, to give up any part of a truth is to wipe out justice, to choose some evil over the good, to renounce man's means, reason and logic which makes his success and happiness possible! Each man must make his own choice! A is A or anything goes! -- For Ditko, 'reason and logic' are the tools by which humankind knows truth."As with Shakespeare studies, Austen studies, or even Lebowski studies, the reader is struck, sooner or later, with the inadequacy of even the best literary criticism. Some of the interpretations here struck me as depressingly wrong:"... At the end of the story, Moore plays with the notion that, while Rorschach is the detective and Veidt is the culprit, because Veidt's actions had altruistic motivations and Rorschach refuses to support them, perhaps Rorschach is the villain and Veidt the hero after all.""... We see early on that, rough around the edges though he may be, Blake is a man who tries to find answers. Consider that even when he commits an act of rape, he verbalizes his justification as a response to an unasked question. 'C'mon baby,' he tells Sally Jupiter, 'I know what you need. Even in his darkest moments, the Comedian tries to understand."Every such 'false note,' is more than matched by something striking and worthwhile on the other side of the ledger. I particularly liked this bit of gossip in one of the later essays:"... One of the main complaints to be made about Watchmen is that it is depressing, pessimistic, cynical, and nihilistic. In its negative reviews on Amazon.com, this is the most common source of the single star ratings. Even a powerhouse like Grant Morrison can use this complaint to distance himself and his work from the crushing influence of Moore's major work. When Matt Brady from Newsarama asked if a sandwich-sign doomsayer, glimpsed in the opening of the concluding issue of Morrison's Final Crisis mini-series, was intended as a nod to Rorschach, Morrison sarcastically responded, 'Watchmen? What's that? Is that the one where the hero dog gets its head kicked in? Sweet.' It is a hard objection to deny.

I enjoyed the essays on Watchmen. They had some views that I was not aware of and I started to see Watchmen with a different view. I appreciated the fact that, even after all these years you can look at the graphic novel and still learn something. Thank you for an enjoyable read.

Although I've read Watchmen many, many times - many things, themes, and details are brought forward by each essay. Enjoyably readable.

I only got half way through this when the kindle I downloaded just died. This is the kind of book you read only once or maybe twice in your life time and then throw away. But if you are really interested in others peoples thoughts on watchman check this out.

I then asked him who some of his favorite comic celebrities were, he replied "Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Warren Ellis".I opened up my Kindle later that evening and found Watchmen... WOW. I finally understood what he meant. Searching for more material to read, I noticed I could borrow this for free on Amazon Prime. So Friday I borrowed this book and finished it Sunday. I now feel I can have a conversation with my boyfriend about something he is passionate about. Plus, I know what I am getting him for his birthday.Thanks Amazon, thanks Sequart.

Outstanding book! All-organized, well-written, lots of summary charts for quick reference. I especially loved the recommendations about how to think about Florida seasons (very different from midwest and northeast), and what/when to grow. Astounding breadth & right balance of depth in discussing landscaping plants as well as veggies and flowers, A bonus-- what to think about before the move - whether to bring any plants, & if so. what kind, tools, etc. Great info on rain/water conservation, connecting with other gardeners in your new area, additional resources for assistance. I'm so glad I found this book early in my days as a new Floridian gardener.

I being new to Florida I am finding her book to be very informative but would have like the pictures to have been in color. It helps when you are planning your landscape the color scheme to know what color the plant is without going to a nursery or big box store. This is my only complaint.

I am reading this now since I live in Wisconsin and will be moving to Florida. Seems informative but a little discouraging gardening in Florida is going to be way different than in Wisconsin.

I am a horticulturist and after moving to Florida, I was looking more for plant books for Florida. But once I started to garden here and saw a copy of this book in the library, I wanted my own copy. I enjoy Ms Brandies' style, and reading it is like going over to a friend's yard and being taught how to garden. I highly recommend this book, even if you have gardened in other places, since much of what we used to do, changes here.

She loves it, reads a section of it each morning. Perfect for our Ocala, Florida growing season and weather. Thank you!

When I got this book I wanted to want to send it back but no can do. It is a decent book even for a Master Gardener from Colorado, not a $20 book, but a good, well priced book full of important info. This book will cut your learning curve when you move to S Florida. FYI: I have the beautiful plant shown on the cover Angel's Trumpet. OMG a show stopper! Got bugs? Yep! But so worth the fight and grows in semi-shade!

If you are a gardener and have just moved to Florida, this is the first book you should read! I lived in northern Ohio, zone 5, and have been a gardener for over 30 years. When I moved here less then a year ago I knew I needed to learn a whole lot of new stuff. My first stop was the library and that is where I found Monica Brandies books. This book is the first gardening book that I have ever read cover to cover. I love the way she writes and she makes it easy to learn. I now have most of her books.

Now I'll be able to not only identify native plants but will know which of my favorites I can still grow vs the ones I'll have to not grow! Better to know before wasting time & money on plants that just don't do well. I'll trade my raspberries for blackberries!

Because it's so short you can actually just read questions first and then find answers. I though that it would get gradually harder, but it doesn't.

As a homeschooling parent who must have been sick on the days we had grammar in school, I really appreciate this book. Fun activities and sentences. My 8 year old is really liking this book. He hasn't given me any pushback on doing pages from it. Some of the sentences aren't the most creative, but in third grade what do you expect.

Nice writing book, butwoul d like a writing book with styles of writing...e.g. a book report, a cause and effect, a compare and contrast, etc.

Recieved the 5 th grade reading comp. book today. When UPS handed me the package the book was shipped in, I thought it was empty. The book it EXTREMELY thin, 45 pages total. about 23 reading pages and 22 work pages. I will use this book up quick. There's no way this book would last the summer. Should have went with my first choice which was Spectrum. I have 3 other books from Spectrum and I am pretty happy with those. I am really disapointed with this purchase. Will not buy this brand again. If your looking for a book to last you all summer, this one is not it.

Good for a student who needs a little more practice, but as a private tutor I was disappointed in the lack of variety of topics and the over use of multiple choice questions.

I bought Spectrum Vocabulary and Scholastic Success with Multiplication and Division, Grammar and Reading Comprehension workbooks for my (soon to be) third grade son. I wanted to help him be prepared for the next school year and these were a great purchase. They are full of different types of activities that students will enjoy. It also helps me to understand the type of material to expect for the next grade and what to help him with when it comes time for standardized testing. Worth the purchase and quick shipping as well.

Although there have been other recent books on spiritual warfare and deliverance prayer, some of them very good (e.g. This Present Glory) or essential in particular situations (Prayers that Shake Heaven and Earth), ithis one has the broadness application and the most solutions. And tthere are chapters on things you won't usually see in most--like avoiding self-pity; when to talk about what's going on, and when to keep your mouth shut...etc. It is also written and edited in a usable and concise format, as you don't have time to read a long treatise on each idea in the middle of a crisis. If there were more stars to choose, it would get all of them.

Well organized and an excellent primer for those who desire an overview of the spiritual warfare tactics we can use against the enemy of our soul. I have learned so much from this book that has since saved me lots of spiritual anguish. Example One: Praying against the spiritual enemies that are attacking you at the moment is the best approach to regain your peace and composure. Attacking spiritual entities that are not currently assigned to make your life miserable is like stirring up a bees nest. My wife and I are just starting the book but so far we have enjoyed it. I like how each tactic is broken down and the author supports each tactic with scripture. I also like how she gives an example of how to use each tactic. I'm not sure if this book would be considered a beginner's guide to spiritual warfare or if this would be intermediate or advanced. My wife and I are just really beginning to practice warfare in our everyday life. The book is easy to read and easy to understand and seems to be giving us a solid understanding and foundation which we can build upon.

This is a very excellent and concise book on “spiritual warfare”! Only about 2 pages per chapter making it a wonderful read... I recommend having this book to add to your warfare war chest!
